Juke Box

JukeBoxFred  First cut on the terrific Italian Cafe CD that’s been getting a lot of spins at El Rancho Roedeo. And what a nice discovery to see a c. 1958 “video” from the crooner Fred Buscaglione:

Inspired by Hollywood icons Clark Gable and Mickey Spillane, and  a devotee of American jazz and swing, Buscaglione personified the laid-back, devil-may care spirit of postwar Italy.

And can you not love these lyrics?

Franky Lane e Doris Day

Good-bye. [roedeo’s poor attempt at translation:] “I am very happy you did a story on Fred Buscaglione, but it could be much more complete and comprehensive as he was a great Italian musician, a great jazz-man, composer and author, and actor in many musical films. Unfortunately, in the text of the song “Juke-Box” I found many errors that do not, exactly convey the meaning of the song. If you want, I can fix them. Good-bye.
